Batteries Now Need to be Taped at the Terminals
All batteries over 1.5 volts need to be taped, if under 1.5 volts, then they're OK untaped. All batteries brought into the Recycling Center now need to be taped on their terminals because of a new rule from the Department of Transportation. Please see the picture below.

Where do I recycle cans, newspapers, etc.?
The Miami County Sanitary Department accepts #1 & #2 Plastics, Aluminum Cans, Steel Cans, Cardboard, Glass (all colors but no windows), and Newspapers. We encourage county residents to utilize this service.

How can I dispose of brush and tree limbs?
Miami County takes wood waste (brush, tree limbs, etc.). Disposal of wood waste is charged at the regular disposal per ton ($61.80). The material gets ground up by a contractor and reused. Grass clippings are not accepted.

How much does it cost to dispose of materials at the Transfer Station?
We have various programs and rates in place depending on the item or items you choose to dispose. Please review the Transfer Station section of the site carefully to determine what we accept and the rates in which you will be charged.

DIRECTIONS
The transfer station is located at 2200 N. County Road 25-A in Troy. From I-75, take Exit 78 and go south for approximately three miles.
