ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT AVAILABILITY NOTICE

The Ohio EPA, through the Water Pollution Control Loan Fund (WPCLF) program, is considering funding a project which is subject to environmental review requirements. The proposed project consists of extending sanitary sewer lines to residences and businesses of the Phoneton project area, and eliminating the unsanitary conditions found there. As Ohio EPA will be issuing a Draft Finding of No Significant Impact and an accompanying Environmental Assessment (EA) on this project in the near future, this notice is to advise the public that it will have a 30-day period in which to review the EA and provide comments to the Ohio EPA contact named at the back of the document. This public comment period will begin with the release of the document to the public through Miami County’s web site, Ohio EPA’s web site, and mailing of the document to a randomly selected group of residents. Upon its release, the document may be viewed at either: Miami County's website at http://miamicountysed.com, Ohio EPA’s website at http://epa.ohio.gov/defa/public_comment.aspx , or in hard copy at the Miami County  Sanitary Engineer's office located at 2200 North County Road 25A, Troy, Ohio. If you would like to receive either an electronic copy via e-mail or a paper copy of the document via U.S. mail upon its release, please contact Kevin Hinkle of Ohio EPA at either: kevin.hinkle@epa.state.oh.us or (614) 644-3712.

Re: Phoneton Sewer Project

My office is currently working on a sanitary sewer project to serve the unincorporated Village of Phoneton and Wiley Industrial Park in Bethel Township with sanitary sewers.  We will hold a public information meeting on June 10th at 6:30 pm in the Bethel High School Auditorium to answer project neighbor’s questions and to generally talk about the scope of the upcoming sewer project.

In the next few days you may also notice surveyors working in the roadway and around your property.  Those surveyors are from Fanning/ Howey Engineering and will have identification as well as a copy of this letter available upon request.

After the meeting on June 10th, my office will be posting periodic project updates for the Phoneton Sewer Project on our website at www.miamicountysed.com.  Please visit it frequently for project updates.  Also should you have questions that are not answered at the meeting on June 10th or in the literature we will post on our website, please give me a call to discuss your questions and/ or concerns.

Sincerely,

Patrick Turnbull, P.E.
Miami County Sanitary Engineer
