MIAMI COUNTY OFFERS A SUMMER SEWER CREDIT PROGRAM.
Policy for Averaging Summer Sewer Bills
Water and Sewer Customers of the Miami County Sanitary Engineering Department who have resided at their customer address from the date of the previous December meter reading shall pay the average of the previous six (6) months sewer usage for the summer months beginning with the meter reading in May and ending with the meter reading the following October.

The average sewer bill only applies to those residential customers actually residing at the customer address from the previous November to May period. Sewer averages are not transferable to new addresses, nor may sewer averages from an existing address be transferred to new customers moving into the existing address. Customers who do not meet the residency requirement shall be billed a maximum of 25,000 gallon/month for summer sewer use unless previous usage patterns conflict with this amount.

The sewer average will be automatically calculated on the sewer bills issued for the June, July, August, September and October meter readings and will cover the period of May through October for summer watering. The full amount of water used shall be billed at the current applicable rate in effect.

No fee or application for this service is required.

Average summer sewers bills are only available to residential customers.

BEFORE WATERING YOUR SOD, CALL US
POLICY FOR SOD WATERING SEWER CREDIT
Water and Sewer customers, builders and developers may apply for a one-time, sixty (60) day sod watering sewer credit to the Sanitary Engineering Department.  All water used will be billed at the applicable rates and only 7,500 gallons per month (the system average) will be billed for sewer.  The sod watering credit will be allowed one time for a particular property and for a 60 day period.

All tap permits must be obtained, a new customer form filed and the party responsible for the bill must sign as a customer.  The water meter must be set prior to the use of any water.  Once the meter is set, the customer shall make application to the Department on the form provided at least 72 hours (3 days) prior to needing the sod watering credit to begin.  No credit shall be issued for watering completed prior to this schedule.

After sixty (60) days, the use of water and sewer shall be billed at the current applicable rates.

A $20.00 fee and application for this service is required.

The sod watering credit shall only apply to new lawns, not for sod or turf maintenance of existing lawns.

WHEN DO YOU PLAN TO FILL YOUR POOL?
POLICY FOR SWIMMING POOL FILLING SEWER CREDIT
Water and Sewer customers of the Miami County Sanitary Engineering Department who desire to fill their swimming pool and avoid sewer charges for the water used may apply for an annual Pool Filling Sewer Credit. The water used to fill the pool will be billed at the applicable rate in effect. The credit will only be provided for one (1) filling per year.

The customer shall make application to the department, provide all information required on the form, pay the required fee, and notify the department at least 72 hours (3 days) in advance of filling the pool.

The customer shall allow inspection of the pool by the department technician to verify quantities both prior to and after filling. Verification that the pool does not and will not drain into the sanitary sewer must be made.

Fee for this service shall be $30.00 each year, payable with application and prior to filling the pool. Failure to apply and pay the fee within the prescribed timetable shall void any request for credit for pool filling.

Customers who qualify for the average summer sewer bill and fill their pools after the May meter reading need not apply for a pool filling sewer credit.

The penalty for falsifying information used to calculate the water usage or for unauthorized pool discharge into the sanitary sewer is $200.00 for each incident.
