Village of Fletcher
Fletcher sanitary sewers are now under construction. Current septic systems have failed and once this project is complete no sewage should enter the streams and/or wells of the community.
Star Ex, one of four prime contractors on the job is currently working on installation of the Lift Station. This deep well will collect wastewater from the Village and pump it through an six inch line to Piqua. The pipes will need to be buried deep to allow gravity to carry the waste to the lift station. Many obstacles will have to be overcome to ensure a safe and successful installation. Dewatering must be done to enable crews to be able to work 20 feet deep in the earth. Temporarily removing this groundwater is essential to the project so that the contractor can safely work with the soil banks around them and so that they are not trying to do an installation in the bottom of a muddy pond. This groundwater will replenish itself naturally when the pumps are disconnected shortly after the installation.
Brumbaugh Construction will be handling the east side of the village. They will have the same type of obstacles to negotiate.
VTF is a company out of Celina that will be installing the Force Main, connecting the Village of Fletcher to the Piqua wastewater system. This part of the system is very shallow. Since we are now under pressure in the line we are not relying on gravity and can manage to raise and lower the line with the topography. Our minimum depth on this line is 4 feet. This should be the quickest portion of the project, even though we are installing more lineal feet of line.
Arcon Builders has won the contract to install the gravity sewer in the Piqua area. The force main will empty into a manhole and will be gravity fed to an existing manhole at Kienle Rd. This 12 inch plastic sewer pipe is rated to handle all of the waste from Fletcher and to grow with any future development from the City of Piqua.
